TSCH 00 Richardson Triumph in Little Rock

TSCH 00 Richardson returned from Little Rock as the Capital City Cup U14 Champions this past weekend. In winning their division they posted a 5-0 win record, scoring 16 goals and conceding only 5. In game 1 they defeated the Purple Rain SC from TN by 3 goals to one with the goal scorers being Gracie Hair (2) and Kaylee Collins with the other.  In the second game against the FC Roma Azzurri from East Dallas, the girls posted a 5-0 win, with the goals coming from Gracie Hair (2) Megan Fitz-Patrick, Kaylee Collins and Caroline Carson. In their final pool game on Sunday morning, despite being a goal down to the Arkansas SC at half time, they had a superb second half outscoring the opposition by 3-1. Gracie Hair (with 2 more) and Livi Hicks were the goal scorers with all 3 goals coming in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

In the semi-final, the opposition were the Arkansas Comets, who had come through the groups as the wild card. Despite dominating possession, the score was 1-0 with Kaylee Collins finishing off a great passing movement involving Peyton Parsons and Caroline Carson. In the second half TSCH 00’s pressure finally wore the Comets down and they conceded a penalty which was duly dispatched by who else by Gracie Hair. Despite giving up a late goal the girls finished the semi-final strong to qualify for their first tournament final of the season. The opposition in the final was provided by the Bluebirds SC from Little Rock and again the TSCH 00 girls dominated possession but could not force an early goal. The half time score was 0-0 and in the second half the TSCH 00 girl’s raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Gracie Hair and Megan Fitz-Patrick. Again dominating possession, the girls hit the post and the crossbar and then late in the game the Bluebirds scored 2 goals taking the game to overtime. Despite being under some pressure in the end, with Kaitlyn Asher in the TSCH 00 goal making some crucial saves, the girls responded very well to the challenge. The overtime was golden goal and within 2 minutes of the kickoff, the championship was won when Josie Hawley (celebrating her birthday as well !!)finished off a great passing movement to shoot the TSCH 00Girls into the lead.

Coach Richardson was very happy with the victory and was full of praise for his team. “It’s a great reward not only for this weekends work, but for the work that the players have put in since preseason began. It sets us up nicely for our next PLW weekend in Edmund next weekend and is a great confidence boost for us.”

Gracie Hair ended up with 8 goals over the weekend scoring in each game. Kaylee Collins had 3, Megan Fitz-Patrick 2 and 1 each for Caroline Carson and Livi Hicks.
